LITecS proudly participated in the European Researchers’ Night on September 26 and 27, 2024, at the University of Beira Interior in Covilhã, an event dedicated to bringing science closer to the public and inspiring young minds to pursue scientific careers.

At the UBI Science Fair, we showcased an engaging mix of technologies and interactive demonstrations, highlighting the impact of robotics and environmental monitoring in various fields. Visitors had the chance to experience a popcorn-serving robotic arm, demonstrating how robotics can be both practical and entertaining; a soft-gripper prototype from the ROBOTA-SUDOE project, designed to handle delicate objects like fruits and vegetables with precision and adaptability; and a monitoring station and interactive panel from the Montanha Viva project, illustrating how technology supports biodiversity conservation and environmental monitoring.

This hands-on experience allowed participants to see how UBI—and particularly LITecS—is driving innovation at the intersection of science, technology, and agriculture. Engaging with the community and sharing our passion for research was a fantastic experience, reinforcing the idea that science can be both impactful and enjoyable.

We are grateful to everyone who visited us and explored our projects—it was a pleasure to showcase the future of technology and sustainability!
