LITecS proudly represented the University of Beira Interior at Formnext 2024, the world’s leading event for additive manufacturing and industrial 3D printing, held in Frankfurt, Germany, from November 19 to 22, 2024. This global gathering provided an exceptional platform to showcase our research in robotics and advanced manufacturing as part of the ROBOTA-SUDOE Project.

During the event, Rodrigo Antunes presented the development of self-sensing soft robotic grippers, fabricated using additive manufacturing techniques. These innovative grippers integrate conductive materials, enabling them to function as sensors that provide real-time force feedback, significantly improving delicate manipulation in robotic systems. Meanwhile, Martim Aguiar explored the potential of 3D-printed sensors using FFF technology and conductive TPU filaments. His research focused on monitoring parameters such as strain, pressure, frost, humidity, and temperature, paving the way for the development of smart 3D-printed components.

Beyond these presentations, Formnext 2024 provided an invaluable opportunity for networking with global industry leaders and innovators. The LITecS team engaged in discussions, fostering potential future collaborations in areas such as flexible and conductive materials for advanced manufacturing.

This event reinforced LITecS’ role in driving innovation in additive manufacturing and robotics, contributing to advancements in sustainability and smart manufacturing. We are excited to build on the connections made during the event and continue expanding our research and partnerships.

Stay tuned for updates on our ongoing projects and future innovations!
