Event aimed at showing innovative projects to companies in the region- Pack2Life: High Performance Packaging
The University of Beira Interior (UBI) was present at i9TEC SUMMIT ’22 – Regional Forum for Competitiveness and Sustainability, which brought together scientific institutions and the business community in the Castelo Branco region to promote innovation and technology. The initiative took place on 29 June and included three events: Regional Hélix, Agritech and i9Tec+.
Pedro Dinis Gaspar, a lecturer at UBI’s Department of Electromechanical Engineering and coordinator of LITecS (Laboratory of Innovation and Technologies for Sustainability), demonstrated a robot (PrunusBot); boxes for transporting food products and alveoli with phase change materials and real-time traceability capabilities (Pack2Life), giving interactive presentations on the research carried out as part of the PrunusPós, Pack2Life and S4Agro projects.
At UBI, Pedro Dinis Gaspar is the coordinator of the projects PrunusBot – Autonomous robotic system for controlled spraying and fruit production forecasting, PrunusPós – Optimisation of storage processes, cold storage, active and/or intelligent packaging, and traceability of food quality in the post-harvest of fruit products, Pack2Life – High Performance Packaging and S4AGRO – Sustainable Solutions for the Agroindustrial sector, all of which were developed at LITecS.
