LITecS had the honor of being represented at the 2024 International Conference on Mechanical Engineering and Intelligent Manufacturing, held in Jiaxing, China, from October 25-26, 2024. Professor Pedro Dinis Gaspar, Chief of the LITecS Laboratory, was an invited speaker, presenting groundbreaking research from the ROBOTA-SUDOE project.
In his presentation, “Advancing Robotic Manipulation: Integrative Design of Fin Ray Effect Soft Robotic Grippers,” Professor Gaspar highlighted innovations in soft robotics, focusing on Fin Ray Effect grippers designed to enhance adaptability and efficiency in both agricultural and industrial applications. The talk explored an integrative approach to design and manufacturing, combining advanced computational modeling with practical validation to improve robotic manipulation capabilities. Special emphasis was given to applications in sustainability-driven agriculture, demonstrating how these soft robotic grippers optimize fruit and vegetable handling while minimizing waste and mechanical damage.
Participating in this prestigious international event in China reinforces the global significance of LITecS’ research and our ongoing commitment to advancing robotics and intelligent manufacturing for a more sustainable future.
