LITecS proudly participated in the Míscaros – Mushroom Festival on the third weekend of November 2024, held in the picturesque village of Alcaide, nestled in the Serra da Gardunha. This unique event celebrates Portugal’s rich fungal heritage and regional traditions, showcasing the cultural, environmental, and gastronomic wealth of the area.

As part of the festival, we had the honor of taking part in a round table discussion on innovative projects in the Serra da Gardunha, where we presented the Montanha Viva project and its role in promoting sustainability, conservation, and local development. The discussion focused on the valorization of endemic species, demonstrating how Montanha Viva encourages the sustainable use and conservation of the region’s unique flora. Additionally, we highlighted the integration of tourism and technology through our hiker’s app, which suggests routes based on the phenology of local species and fosters a circular economy by allowing users to earn and redeem points at local businesses.

Míscaros was the perfect platform to showcase how innovation and tradition can work together, reinforcing the importance of biodiversity conservation, local economic growth, and sustainable tourism. We are proud to contribute to the ongoing efforts to celebrate and preserve the natural and cultural heritage of the Serra da Gardunha!
