Collaborative robotics – a project by the University of Beira Interior, which aims to develop robots to carry out tasks related to agricultural activity.

The ROBOTA-SUDOE project – Robotics, automation, and digitalisation as drivers of competitiveness and growth for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), was broadcast on 19 February 2024 on RTP PLAY’s Antena 2 Ciência programme.

Professor Pedro Dinis Gaspar, professor in the Department of Electromechanical Engineering and coordinator of the Laboratory of Innovation and Technology for Sustainability (LITecS), announced the project in episode 8 of this programme, talking about the work carried out at LITecS, its objectives, and the need for collaborative robotics for tasks linked to agricultural activity, in particular fruit picking using flexible grippers.
