The BioD’Agro project, winner of the 3rd edition of the Promove competition, led by the Instituto Superior de Agronomia and in collaboration with the University of Beira Interior’s Laboratory of Innovation and Technology for Sustainability (LITecS), Spaceway, Sinergiae Ambiente Lda, Colinas do Douro – Sociedade Agr\u00edcola and the Municipality of Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo, will develop an intelligent warning and information system for farmers in the region. This system will allow crops to be monitored remotely, promoting biodiversity and environmental sustainability without compromising agricultural productivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LITecS is creating an Internet of Things (IoT) solution for data acquisition in the vineyard, including a web platform to help farmers with efficient water management and ecological pest control. Pedro Dinis Gaspar, from UBI, highlights the importance of sensors installed in the vineyard to monitor weather conditions and the water status of the soil. M\u00e1rio Agostinho, from Sinergiae Ambiente, adds that these sensors will also make it possible to study the activity of bats, natural predators of pests such as the grape moth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
