The Montanha Viva project, led by the University of Beira Interior (UBI) and approved by the PROMOVE – Promote the Future of the Interior program, aims to develop an intelligent decision support system for the economic exploitation of mountain plants. This system, designed for remote locations without an internet connection, aims to increase production, reduce the consumption of natural resources and promote biodiversity and environmental sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project begins by identifying and characterizing mountain plants with beneficial properties to mitigate agricultural pests and promote health and well-being. A local and remote monitoring system will be developed, using artificial intelligence algorithms for agricultural decisions. In addition, the project aims to promote sustainable mountain tourism by raising awareness of local biodiversity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
