LITecS played a leading role in a nationally relevant workshop on “Innovation and Digital Technologies,” held on May 21, 2025. The initiative was part of the AKIS system (National Agriculture Knowledge and Innovation System), a strategic network coordinated by the Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development of the Government of Portugal.

Our coordinator, Professor Pedro Dinis Gaspar, led the 1.5-hour workshop, which was attended by 156 technicians and professionals from institutions linked to agriculture and the agro-industry. The session was designed to empower sector agents with the latest digital tools and knowledge.

During the workshop, Professor Gaspar presented the latest results of the Montanha Viva project. Topics covered included the sustainable use of native plants, digital monitoring tools for biodiversity, smart decision-support systems for agricultural planning, and tourism integration through technology and the circular economy.

This workshop was an excellent opportunity to disseminate the goals and results of the Montanha Viva project to a specialized audience. The initiative also allowed for a discussion on the potential for expanding this model nationwide, reinforcing our commitment to knowledge transfer and innovation in the Portuguese agricultural sector.
